Question: Should you wash basil before storing?

There are a couple of methods you can use to keep it fresh as long as possible. But whatever you do, do NOT wash it before storing fresh. If you have already washed it, make sure to completely dry the leaves as quickly as you can, or they will start turning brown.

How do you clean and harvest basil?

Pinch off basil leaves. Discard the stems, and wash the leaves very well in cool water and thoroughly dry in a salad spinner. If you dont have a salad spinner, cool-water wash your basil leaves in the sink and dry as dry as possible with paper towels.

Does basil go bad in the fridge?

Fresh basil doesnt last very long. Even if you keep them in the fridge, you will still find the shape of the leaves goes wither and the color turns black in about 3-4 days.
